Lime
have always been an extremely useful building material. But in older
times transportation was difficult and expensive. So it was important
to procure it locally.
Although the mountains in the area are mainly
micascist, limestone occasionally occurs. The inhabitants used to make
furnaces to make the lime on site. Some are still visible today.
