Hepatica nobilis.

Hepatica nobilis lists amongst the first flowers to bloom in springtime. As soon as snow disappears, the flowers bloom still before any leaf is visible. Flowers may be blue, pink or white.

Abnormal specimen showing multiple flowers. Instead of the usual 8 petals, there are many. Assuming that my memory is correct, I collected this plant when I was a child on the path between Cougno and Rodoretto. It kept blooming over a couple of decades in my garden in Ghigo.

After blooming has completed, leafs begin to grow.

After blooming, leafs grow to full size and the plant achieves the shape it will keep across the summer.
